Introducing Federal Way Chiropractor Dr. Lorri Nichols

Dr. Lorri Nichols"I admit, I was a skeptic," remembers Dr. Lorri Nichols. "But after a lower back injury in college, my mom suggested that I see Dr. Dave Kreinbrook, the local chiropractor. My mother had suffered from migraine headaches for years until she discovered the benefits of chiropractic health care and insisted that I give it a chance.

"It was incredible," remembers Dr. Lorri Nichols, "Not only did the adjustment relieve my lower back pain, but I noticed a dramatic improvement in my overall health within weeks of treatment. That’s when I decided I wanted to be a chiropractor. I had always been interested in the health field, but was disillusioned by working as a Certified Laboratory Technician in the local hospital. When I discovered the philosophy, art, and science of chiropractic, I knew I found a profession where I could truly help sick and injured people regain their health."

Dr. Nichols began her pre-chiropractic education at the University of Pittsburgh where she studied the basic sciences such as organic chemistry, physics, biology, physiology, and anatomy.

After completing her courses there, she was accepted at Sherman College of Chiropractic in Spartanburg, South Carolina. During her four years at Sherman, her curriculum included biochemistry, with a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, x-ray, diagnosis, and spinal adjusting techniques. Dr. Nichols graduated cum laude in 1983, obtaining state licensure in both Pennsylvania and Washington. In 2000 she completed an additional three years of study through Los Angeles Chiropractic College obtaining Diplomate status in Chiropractic Spinal Rehabilitation. She has been serving Federal Way since 1984.

Dr. Nichols is an active member of the Washington State Chiropractic Association and the Federal Way Chiropractic Society. She is also currently serving the second term of an appointment to the Washington State Department of Health Chiropractic Quality Assurance Commission.

"I can still remember how apprehensive I was to see a chiropractor for the first time." remembers Dr. Nichols. "So I make it a point to explain everything in advance to my patients, answer questions, and provide gentle, and effective treatment.

Dr. Nichols raised her family in Sumner, Washington. Her children, Elizabeth and Kelsey were born at home and maintain their health with regular spinal adjustments. In addition to spending time with her children and grandchildren, Dr. Nichols is an avid athlete who enjoys backpacking, cycling, hiking, and skiing.

Dr. Lorri Asks some important questions of interest to Federal Way residents - Chiropractor Federal Way Dr. Lorri Asks...

What's the difference between chiropractic and medicine?
Medical treatment focuses on the disease or the symptom. Chiropractic focuses on the person with the disease or the symptom. Medical treatment usually involves changing blood chemistry. Chiropractic involves restoring nervous system integrity. Medical doctors prescribe medicine. Chiropractors adjust the spine—a common source of nervous system interference.
Are chiropractors just concerned with the spine?
Our interest in the spine is because it covers the major communications conduit between your brain and your body. As a Federal Way chiropractor my job is to locate areas (usually along the spine) that interfere with proper nerve communications to and from your brain. Chiropractic adjustments help restore nervous system integrity. In this way, chiropractic care can affect the function of your entire body.
